Why you’ll love this recipe
- It’s the ultimate comfort food: a savory, egg custard that is so smooth it practically melts in your mouth.
- This dish is high in protein, low in calories, and can be customized with any toppings you like.
- It’s a magical transformation of simple eggs and water into a refined, elegant side dish.
Key Ingredients
- Warm Water: Using warm (not boiling) water helps the eggs cook more evenly
- Toasted Sesame Oil: Just a few drops on top after steaming adds a massive punch of nutty aroma.
- Soy Sauce: Provides the necessary salt and umami to contrast the mild, creamy flavor of the eggs.
✅Quick Tips: Always strain your egg mixture through a fine-mesh sieve; this removes air bubbles and make the egg for a glass-smooth surface.
Key Steps
- #1: Whisk eggs gently to avoid creating too much foam, then slowly incorporate the warm water.

- #2: Strain the mixture into your steaming bowl to ensure there are zero bubbles for a professional finish.

#3: Steam and enjoy!

did you cover something on the top while it steamed? also did you mix the egg with hot water?
My eggs came out lumpy and puffy with about a tablespoon of water in the middle.
